The holidays are such a magical time when you’re a kid! I can only appreciate it that much more when I’m watching my toddler experience everything for the first time.

In our house, the adventures of Skippy, our elf on the shelf, has become quite the hit! My little girl adores waking up each morning to see what adventures the day holds with her buddy. And trust me, she doesn’t let me forget about him!

Then there’s the dozens upon dozens of cookies! I’m definitely a baking kind of mom as I learned how when I was super young. Now making all of my favorite holiday treats with my kids is something we all enjoy! The saddest part about it? I now have to share licking the mixer spoon! (LOL!)

And then of course, the first snowfall of a child’s life is something to be cherished. I live in Georgia, where snow is not a typical everyday happening. But when it started falling, my daughter just about lost her mind!!  She couldn’t believe her eyes and just kept running around the house screaming, “Snow!!” I know that we all remember that magical time as a kid. However, I had to be dressed to the tens in order to play in the snow when I was younger! The prettiest boots, the most stylish jacket, my hat and scarf had to match. I was impossible.

  1. The holiday season is definitely the best time to be a kid especially with it being school holidays and all the awesome gifts that you get as well! I am loving that Christmas jumper x

  2. I loved Christmas when I was a kid and I still love it now! The lights and the cookies and family gatherings. It’s really the most wonderful time of the year.

  3. I agree! Especially Christmas is best time for children. They definitely brighten up the holiday spirit with baking together and wearing cute clothes. I don’t have a child but I love Gymboree as children’s clothing brand.

  4. I just played in the snow with my boyfriend’s little niece yesterday and couldn’t believe how excited she was. It’s always so refreshing to see the sparkle in the kids’ eyes and it reminded me that we, as adults, should be way more happy and excited about the little things in life.

  5. Your post made me feel like home. While we don’t have Skippy the Elf, we do have a little green Squinkie that the cats hate. I kid you not, wherever we put him, by the next morning, he’ll be knocked onto the floor. When my kids were little, I too was a baking mom during the holidays. Truly, some of the best memories were made fighting for rights to the mixing spoon. x

  6. I agree. I have many fond memories of my siblings when we are little. We used to attend that community dance celebration during Christmas with our friends, and playing in the park. And not thinking life too seriously.

  7. Gymboree does such marvelous things for kids. I really did love all of the clothes they had for kids. Unfortunately my daughter grew up too quickly and couldn’t keep wearing some of the clothes they had. But if you have younger children, it’s great.

  8. This post gave me nostalgia, as used to love the holidays as a kid, but now with all the responsibilities, some times the times get rough. Your daughter is adorable btw!

  9. I completely agree!! Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I absolutely love the excitement on her face when she sees snow hahaha. I remember that magical moment myself hahaha!
